I received a email from the Saint At Large about a short film titled: Strange Live Acts at . Of course, I was intrigued. The location was at Anthology Film Archives in East Village, a small independent film theatre, right across from The Cock so needlessly to say I didn’t need directions. Cinekink is a film festival that shows erotic short films through out the country.

I entered in the small lobby area and I paid my fare. The crowd for this short film series was very diverse; more women than I expected and a much older crowd.

Thursday, February 28 @ 9 pm / Strange Live Acts

The Inflated Man – This short was about, from the Director’s point-of-view, witnessing audience members reaction to the anticipation of the explosion of the inflatable rubber suit. A big red suit wore by a man with a slender and gas mask over his face. It’s narrated that this event happened at one of the IML shows in Chicago.

Desperate Housewife – A woman is on stage and she appears to have a black eye. The battered woman begins to perform a strip tease for the audience at the show. The more layers she removes, the more visible the abuse becomes more apparent. When she gets down to the underwear, she removes them and reveals she is really a he and the show wraps up.

Strange Live Acts  –  (The main reason why I came to the show) This short is a never before seen footage of recorded video from a Black Party events.

RITES XXVI The first scene opens up to three men on the stage and two guys are place what appears to be hot glass cylinders on top of the guys chest. The burning from these cylinders are drawing blood down the guys chest, who’s crouched down on his knees facing the crowd. One of the guys that was standing is now taking the blood and pouring it over his head and his body. The other guy follows suit and the scene wraps with them cleaning themselves off the blood. The next scene, I’m trying to remember accurately, involved a guy getting fucked by dildos, large, oversized dildos after getting several enormous candles pouring wax on his body with burns and skin crawling bruises. Then, the bottom guy gets fisted by one of the two guys in the act and the bottom, who is on all four most the time, begins to suck the two guys cock and get fisted-like arms deep.

RITES XXXII – I’m trying to remember this scene. I believe this guy was suspended by hooks and there was a woman adding more hooks to this guys body. I didn’t quite enjoy this one so I excuse me for not remembering.

RITES XXVII The following scene, same scenario two guys- two tops, one bottom. This act is the most sexually graphic one out of the group and you see the bottom suck both guys cock, get fucked one guy and fisted repeatedly with a Louisville Slugger, yikes.

RITES XXXII – The scene after that is the aerial act where the guys perform oral and anal sex in stretch, hammock-like bands above the crowd in addition to acrobatic stunts, twirls and flips.

RITES XXXIII – The final act, the act was from last year that I missed entirely because I was busy, involved a guy acting as a fugitive being a corned by 3 “cops” and they throw him against a black abandoned car and they began to spank him and make him suck they’re cocks and the one cop, played by Spencer Reed, begins to cane him with a nightstick.

After that scene, the short is finished with a guy being tied up in various thick red knots that is performed by one gentleman and supported by the guy is who being tied up. The time frame is accelerated due to time constraint and the short closes with the guy encased in the ropes and strategic knots.

Kinbaku – The titled short is about the knot-tying fetish discovered in the Eastern part of Asia in Japan. The guy begins kinbaku as a hobby then it became a sexual pleasure of discipline, submission and control between two people. The cinematography was visual pleasing, for the straight guys, but a little on the long side.

Deconstructed Beauty – The final short was a woman applying pain through needles and piercings through her body and the removal of said needles and the bleeding out process. The title says it all; basically tearing the beauty outside and look within.

Overall, I enjoyed the short films and I look forward to attending it again and seeing what new films will premiere. Hopefully another Strange Live Acts short.
