My First Black Party Gay Cruising Story: RITES XXXI 2010 Part I NSFW
“Once I enter into the darkness, I knew there was no turning back.” – Dark Cruiser
I heard about this party about a year ago after it had occurred and decided that I would attend the event to confirm if the rumors were in fact true. I heard that it was a huge sex party, sex performing on the stage and everywhere else. After attending the event, I can confirm that most of the rumors are true. However, the magnitude of what occurred cannot be measured or put into words and gossip alone. The Black Party must be experienced for oneself.
I set out to attend the “hottest party of the year” and I had to get the proper gear; something black and that leaves little to the imagination. At the time, I don’t think you could buy the tickets online, so I decided to the select one of the retailers that carry the tickets. Out of the three, I chose The Leather Man in the village. The store is located on the historic Christopher Street about 50 feet away from where the Stonewall Riots ignited.
Upon enter in the fetish shop, I was bombarded with metal and small leather accessories. I took in the scenery that was filled with various types of harness, rubber suits and items I haven’t seen nor heard of before. Before I decided on an item, I figured I would check out the lower level. In order to reach the lower level, you must descend down a very narrow spiraling staircase that’s only enough space for one person at a time going up or down. In the basement, it was even more “heavy” apparel, foreign objects, and dildos among other things. I settled on a Nasty Pig rubber jock, the leather jockstraps were too expensive for me to just wear once a year. A small leather armband and a leather mask to complete the look. I put my items on the counter to cash out along with a ticket to the main event.
As the day approaches, I began planning what I’m wearing that would be comfortable before and after the party. I kept my look simple and packed everything in my backpack.
Black Party Tip #1 – Bring a duffel or any time of bag to carry your casual clothes in especially if u don’t plan on leaving until Sunday afternoon.
Black Party Tip#2 – This should be number one. Make sure you purchase your ticket in advance to save money. The 1st week of February the tickets go on sale for $110, the following week the price jumps up to $125 then the next it goes up even more and it’s usually $165 the day of the event.
Like I stated in my previous post, Roseland Ballroom is the venue that hosts the event. When I arrived, there were two lines formed outside. One for men who prepaid and the others for the will call and/or who didn’t buy previously. Guess which lines moved faster. *Get your tickets early*
As I move over to the express line, I began to feel the adrenaline rush and I enter into Roseland to witness the greatest spectacle on Earth.
In Part 2, I explore the Black Party and share with you what I experience as much as I can remember.
